The dnjournal 2014 list of top domain name sales is out. I am nostalgic, frustrated, chuffed and incredulous (is this actually possible without drugs?). From my first UK commercial website in 1996 (nostalgic!) I have had 3 rules for name value. Must be: 1) Made up of recognisable words; 2) Less than 8 characters; 3) A .com I thought this last rule was dead given the proliferation of suffixs but the list (chuffed!) says NO. So, why am I not a domain name millionaire (frustrated!)? And why has no one bought my goldsure & beingsure domain names for mucho bucks? (Incredulous!)

This weekend for example, I learned about a new Flipboard-like start up called HelloReverb – a completely new way to discover news trending around the world. This will be big! ![]() Last July I tweeted this mind-blowing graphic of a snapshot of High Frequency Trading. As more evidence emerges of a huge divergence between productivity and average wages (the gains from productivity have almost exclusively gone to the capitalist class, “the 1%”), HFT amplifies returns for the 1%. A new book out yesterday, Flash Boys, by Michael Lewis appears to evidence this. I am half way through it. It’s a brilliant read.
